Susan Boyle has never been one for flashy spending, and her latest big purchase proves it. The Britain's Got Talent favourite has bought a campervan to take on holiday - even though she cannot drive it herself.

The Scottish singer shared the news in a chat with broadcaster STV, revealing she was collecting the vehicle that very day. "Well I'm getting a new campervan. I'm picking it up today actually," she said, before adding with a laugh: "I cannae drive though!" She did not say who would be behind the wheel on her road trips.

The cheerful admission is very on-brand for a star whose fame has never changed her down-to-earth ways. Susan shot to worldwide attention in 2009 when her audition of I Dreamed A Dream on Britain's Got Talent stunned the judges and went viral around the globe. Although she finished as runner-up to dance troupe Diversity, she has gone on to sell more than 25 million albums and is now a multimillionaire.

Despite that fortune, she famously stayed for years in the modest council house in Blackburn, West Lothian, where she grew up. A friend previously told The Sun that she felt a strong bond to her late parents by remaining there. Earlier this year, however, it emerged that she had moved to a larger home closer to where her personal assistant lives, taking her two cats and her family photographs with her.

The 65-year-old has been enjoying a busy 2026. Her BGT audition was lovingly referenced in an episode of Ted Lasso's fourth season, which she celebrated with fans online, and in October she shared photos from a trip to New York, telling followers it was lovely to be back in America.

Fans were quick to react warmly to the campervan news, with many joking that she will need a willing chauffeur for every trip. For a performer who has spoken openly over the years about anxiety and about enjoying a quieter life away from the spotlight, a simple break on the open road sounds like the perfect fit.

Now, it seems, the next adventure will be closer to home - with someone else doing the driving.
