New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson traded the Garden for the squad room on Thursday — and slipped a championship wink into Law & Order: SVU.

On the Nov. 5 episode “Forsaken,” Brunson, 30, made his scripted acting debut as Detective Madison, a fellow cop who helps Captain Olivia Benson (longtime pal Mariska Hargitay) dig into a wedding-assault case. The guest spot follows his Sept. 26 Saturday Night Live hosting gig and a friendship that already had Hargitay sprinting from Broadway to courtside during the Knicks’ finals run.

In the diner scene, Benson congratulates Madison on a promotion. Brunson’s character answers that he “focused on my goals, did 110%. Things worked out” — a line Page Six and viewers read as a nod to New York’s first title in 53 years. Madison then shares details from a prior DWI arrest of the suspect’s stepfather, giving Benson a key assist before she rushes off with a distracted “Thanks, Jay.”

Brunson’s dad, Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson, also pops up for about three seconds entering the cafe. Reviews of the cameo were affectionate but blunt: acting teacher Dinanda Klaassen told the New York Post the delivery was “decent” for a rookie and joked that if Brunson can erase a 29-point deficit, he can try Shakespeare. Teammate Josh Hart had already said after SNL that Brunson was “fine” but probably does not have an acting future — a verdict Page Six said still fits SVU.

Brunson kept the tone grateful. At a Nov. 4 post-game press conference he called the opportunity “pretty cool” and thanked Hargitay. The SVU star has called him a “bucket list” guest and bolted from her Broadway show Every Brilliant Thing to catch Game 4 at MSG; after the Knicks’ 107–106 win she told The Hollywood Reporter it might have been “the greatest night of my life.”

Celebrity walk-ons are SVU tradition — Snoop Dogg and Serena Williams have done it — and Brunson’s scene is short by design. For one night, New York’s basketball captain and TV captain shared a badge, a diner booth and a 110% punchline.
