Billy Ray Cyrus’s ex-wife Firerose has issued a blunt public warning to his fiancée Elizabeth Hurley, saying the country star turned their marriage into a “war zone” and insisting that “narcissists never change.”
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the singer — who was with Cyrus for about five years before their 2024 divorce — said she would not wish a relationship with him on her worst enemy. Speaking from Los Angeles, Firerose said she usually finds it sweet when people find love, but told Hurley that anyone “ensnared by a narcissist” should save themselves.
She described a cycle of rage and apology: a look Cyrus “would perceive to be wrong” could trigger screaming and “vile insults,” she claimed, followed the next day by declarations of love that made her feel she had to shrink herself to keep the peace. “Nobody ever chooses to be abused by a narcissist,” she said. “It’s the most horrific, demoralising and excruciating thing to go through.”
Firerose also alleged that Cyrus’s family, including daughter Miley Cyrus, has “suffered from his narcissistic behaviour for years.” Cyrus has previously denied Firerose’s abuse allegations in other coverage of their split; The Sun’s latest interview frames her comments as a direct message to Hurley as the actress’s romance with the Achy Breaky Heart singer stays in the spotlight.
Cyrus, 65, and Hurley, 61, met while filming the 2022 holiday movie Christmas in Paradise and went public with their relationship in 2025. Last month, engagement chatter spiked after Hurley posted Instagram photos showing a large sparkler on her finger, with Cyrus following up with posts that referenced diamond rings.
Whether Hurley responds remains to be seen. Firerose’s message, as reported by The Sun, is clear: she believes the pattern she describes does not change — and she wants other women to hear that before they walk into the same storm.
