An official Texas inquest has filled in the detail Breaking Bad fans were not given when RJ Mitte died last month.

According to a Cameron County report obtained by Page Six, Mitte, 34, died by suicide by hanging and was pronounced dead at 1:32 p.m. on Oct. 12 in Brownsville. Autopsy and toxicology testing were requested; those results were not in the records Page Six reviewed. His representative had already confirmed the death was by suicide without describing the manner.

The same statement remembered him as more than Walter “Flynn” White Jr. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” the rep said, noting he drew on his own cerebral palsy for the AMC role and served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.

Co-stars answered the October news with grief that still frames this update. Bryan Cranston wrote that he was in “deep despair,” recalling casting Mitte at 14 and praising how he never used his disability “as an excuse for anything.” Aaron Paul said he was “heartbroken” and reminded readers they are “not alone.” Dean Norris called him a “sweetheart of a young man” he looked out for on set.

The Sun, citing the same Page Six reporting, added that Mitte’s mother, Dyna, has said she found him after he did not answer a morning call when she came to bring lunch — and that he left no note.

The inquest does not change the tributes. It does close one unanswered question about how a 34-year-old actor and advocate died.
