Kim Kardashian isn’t letting a failed bar exam knock her off course. The reality star and businesswoman says she still has her heart set on becoming a lawyer, and that she has nothing to be embarrassed about.

“Trying my hardest and learning so much”

Speaking to Page Six at the New York premiere of Season 2 of her Hulu legal drama All’s Fair on Monday, the 46-year-old said embarrassment simply isn’t something she feels. If anything, she suggested, the people who should feel awkward are those who mock her without ever having attempted the exam themselves.

Kardashian, who wore an Ashi Studio gown for the event, said she is giving the process everything she has and learning a great deal along the way.

A break until 2027

After last year’s unsuccessful attempt at the California Bar Exam, Kardashian is stepping back for now. Page Six previously reported that she does not plan to sit the test again until 2027. A source told the outlet that most candidates spend months focused solely on preparation, while Kardashian is juggling a nonstop work schedule as a single mother of four.

The California exam is a demanding two-day test made up of 200 multiple-choice questions, five one-hour essays and a 90-minute performance test.

It wouldn’t be the first time persistence paid off. Kardashian failed the so-called “baby bar,” the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, three times before passing on her fourth try in 2021.

Art imitating life

Kardashian first revealed her legal ambitions in a 2019 Vogue interview, explaining she was inspired after helping secure the release of Alice Marie Johnson, who had been serving a life sentence.

She now plays a divorce lawyer on All’s Fair, and said she had hoped to pass the bar before cameras started rolling. She recalled telling co-creator Ryan Murphy how cool it would be to play a lawyer on TV and be one in real life too. She still hopes to pull that off while the show is on the air, and insisted she will never give up on the dream.

Kardashian also had a final word for her critics, saying that whatever the result, she is proud of how much she now knows about the law.

She was joined on the carpet by co-stars Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor and Niecy Nash.
