The Announcement
Melua broke the happy news to fans with a photo of herself cradling her newborn, writing that Max “is here” and that she feels “so lucky to be mum to two beautiful boys.” She added a playful note about her eldest, saying Sandro has been “the best big brother so far” and joking, “Long may it last.”
The singer had told fans earlier this year that she was expecting again, with the baby due over the summer. Max joins big brother Sandro, who was born in December 2022.
Congratulations quickly poured in from fans, who called the announcement “gorgeous” and “lovely” news.
A Private Life, Quietly Shared
Melua has always kept her personal life largely out of the spotlight and has not publicly named her partner. She was previously married to former World Superbike racer James Toseland; the pair wed at Kew Gardens in London in 2012 and later divorced.
A Career That Endures
Born in Georgia and raised partly in Northern Ireland before moving to London, Melua rose to fame in 2003 with her debut album Call Off the Search and went on to become one of Britain’s best-selling female artists of the 2000s, with hits including The Closest Thing to Crazy and Nine Million Bicycles.
Fans Celebrate
The response to the announcement was immediate and warm. Social media filled with congratulatory messages from fans who have followed Melua since the beginning. Welcome to the world, Max.
